Started jogging over the past few weeks... →
first I decided to go 3.5 miles (roughly according to Android) then 4.6 miles (again, roughly) and after that I thought, what the hell, and strove for 6. Which is why I’ve been hobbling around with a bum knee for the last week.

What have I been doing...
Okay April has been busy, busy (as Vonnegut might have said) so I have not gone on any of those great preseason rides I should be on such an early spring, Well my bearings have been adjusted (quite literally in the case of my fixie), tune-ups executed, new toys being thoroughly explored and I am ready to ride. The weather looks iffy for the Ironman this Sunday, which is perfectly as it should...
DC Rainmaker: Garmin Edge 500 In Depth Review →
The Garmin 500 is on the way, forget the painfully slow Android and will start collecting ride data in the 21st century. It is doubtful that it’ll be on my doorstep in time for the Ironman, but subsequent rides should be well documented. Also a shout out to DC Rainmaker for his comprehensive review which really did tip my hand in making this purchase. Look for more details as the season...
Karen is wedding planning and painting. Bill, Curtis and I are finishing in the downstairs bathroom and, if we’re lucky we might get some fixtures replaced as well.

A great ride from St Louis Park through downtown past the new Twins stadium, the central library, St Anthony Main, Stone Arch Bridge, and the Guthrie. Also experienced the Martin Olav Sabo bridge over Hiawatha and Freewheel’s Midtown shop. Oh, and this would suggest that the touring bikes is up to the commuting task.
Rolling on the West Side (Again)
Rolling on West Side (again) at EveryTrail
Taking advantage of a long weekend and amazingly warm April first I head out on what is becoming one of my favorite routes. Beautiful spring trip, great weather and terrible wind. (Click on the link at the top of the page to get the stats and watch an animated blue ball illustrate the trip!)

Roughly 55 miles on an overcast March day, a nice early season ride to points west. Roads were good and mostly dry after the week of rain that greatly depreciated our snow pack and increased the overall width of the roads. Moving through some of the wetlands north of Lake Minnetonka showed little risk of flooding, which was good to see (those...

Something to check out next time you are headed out of town and do not want to scan in and out of scratchy country western stations. Listen to scratch out of date audiobooks, absolutely beautiful.
Mileage Totals To Date
Sadly these miles are only miles logged indoors, on the trainer, in the basement. But I am happy with them and happy to see the preseason months nearly at an end (okay, we’re smack in the middle of preseason, but the beginning the latter half). It has been forty degrees or better the past couple of days if this weather holds I might get to add a commute or weekend ride on the...

JDRF Walk at MOA this Weekend
Karen and I are getting ready for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) walk this weekend at the Mall of America. We are walking for our niece Ellie on team Ellie’s Walkstars. They have made significant progress toward the team goal of $1,000, so much so that in this last week they raised to the goal to $1,500. The link to make donations toward the overall goal can...

Fantastic weather, above freezing by the time I finished the run, and great groomed path. The warm weather did make it a bit sloppy by time I left making it a bit sticky. Also, quite a bit fewer hills than I remember when I last skied a few years back. Doesn’t matter, still think that this is the best cross country skiing in the...
Not getting any road miles in...
so no exciting maps to post. Instead, as I’ve cracked mile 400 for the year, I’ll post the chart of my training progress to date. Feels like best year yet, can’t hardly wait to hit the pavement and see how this all pays off.
Finally getting around to posting the Loppett map

Lot of fun, perfect conditions and gorgeous luminaries. Took it around the lake twice, stopping to enjoy Peace Coffee and great people watching.
Thought this might work....
but obviously I’d be wrong.

Hmm, search seems to only be as good as a keyword search. Brands that are also common names or things are distorted because this pulls in all references equally.
